The Friends of Gilford Football was formed in 2003 to provide an additional fall educational and athletic opportunity for the students of Gilford and Gilmanton. Their main objective was and still is today, to create an atmosphere conducive to the development of character and good sportsmanship. The founders intended the program to be open to Gilford, Gilmanton and surrounding towns who do not offer a youth tackle program. The Gilford Silverhawks youth tackle football program is open to students entering grades 3rd-8th in the fall. Grades 3rd-6th play in the Snowbelt League, while grades 7th-8th play in the Granite State League.
